Bicara Therapeutics, a clinical-stage biotechnology firm creating dual-action biologics to elicit a powerful and long-lasting anti-tumor response, disclosed the completion of a $108 million Series B fundraising to advance its main product BCA101 and its portfolio of investigational candidates to treat solid tumor malignancies. The round was co-led by Red Tree Venture Capital and RA Capital Management, with participation from previous investors including F-Prime Capital, Eight Roads Ventures, Invus, Piper Heartland Healthcare Capital, and Premji Invest. Omega Funds, Bioqube Ventures, Acorn Bioventures, and Janus Henderson Investors are among the newcomers.
Shoulder Innovations Inc. (SI), a pioneer in the shoulder replacement implant market-based in Grand Rapids, Michigan, disclosed the conclusion of a $42 million Series D fundraising. SI is a privately owned medical equipment business with a diverse team of successful shoulder innovators. Gilde Healthcare Partners, a specialized trans-Atlantic healthcare investor, spearheaded the funding. Existing investors include US Venture Partners, Lightstone Ventures, the cultivate (MD) Accelerator Capital fund, and new investors Gilmartin Capital and Aperture Venture Partners.
XGS Energy, a pioneer in geothermal energy technology, has raised $19 million in funding, including a $14 million Series A sponsored by Anzu Partners. This investment will be used by XGS Energy to further develop its geothermal heat-gathering system. The company was initially known as Geothermic Solution LLC but has now renamed itself to XGS Energy.
The Believer Company has raised $55 million in Series A funding, led by industry experts fascinated about players and developing worlds worthy of them. The money, led by Lightspeed Venture Partners, will be used to establish a world-class team in order to deliver a next-generation open-world game centered on an original IP, tales where player decisions matter, and gameplay systems that draw players together rather than push them apart.
Matchday, a startup at the crossroads of video games, sports, and web3, has acquired $21 million in seed funding to create an ecosystem of casual football (soccer) games for billions of fans worldwide. Argentine football legend Lionel Messi’s investment venture Play Time and two-time Ballon d’Or winner Alexia Putellas are among Matchday’s partners, team, investors, and consultants.
Revelstoke Security (Revelstoke), the inventors of the first Security Orchestration, Automation, and Response (SOAR) platform built on a Unified Data Layer, announced a $20 million Series B fundraising round. SYN Ventures and ClearSky Security co-led the investment, with contributions from Rally Ventures and Crosslink Capital.
Ring Therapeutics, a life sciences business established by Flagship Pioneering to transform gene therapy with its commensal virome platform, reported that it has raised $86.5 million in Series C funding, increasing its overall funds raised to date to $230 million. Alexandria Venture Investments, Altitude Life Science Ventures, CJ Investment, Flagship Pioneering, Invus, Kyowa Kirin Co., Ltd, Partners Investment, funds and accounts advised by T. Rowe Price Associates, Inc., UPMC Enterprises, and others, including all of Ring’s existing institutional shareholders, were among the investors.
QurAlis Corporation, a clinical-stage biotechnology firm creating genetically verified precision therapeutics for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and other neurological disorders, announced the completion of an oversubscribed $88 million Series B fundraising, bringing the total funds collected to $143.5 million. EQT Life Sciences led the financing, with participation from the LSP Dementia Fund, Sanofi Ventures, and Droia Ventures, as well as existing investors LS Polaris Innovation Fund, Mission BioCapital, INKEF Capital, Dementia Discovery Fund, Amgen Ventures, MP Healthcare Venture Management, Mitsui Global Investment, Dolby Family Ventures, Mission Bay Capital, and Sanford Biosciences.
